Adults in ministry/singles (AIMS) 40 yrs+

AIMS is a ministry for single adults over the age of 40 who want to take part in church activities. Together with other single adults, we support each other, the church, and our faith. Some of our activities include social outings, fundraisers, church functions, adopting single families, and praying. We meet the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month at 10:30 a.m. in the meeting room at the back of the church. Come join our single family!

BOY SCOUTS AND CUB SCOUTS

The Scouting Program has been an active youth ministry program at our parish for over 50 years with2,500 young men passing through our program. Outdoor adventures, citizenship training, learning new skills, character building and making lasting friends are benefits of being a Scout.  Many Cub and Boy Scouts have earned numerous awards which includes the 65 Boy Scouts who have earned the Eagle Scout Award. The Scouts perform many service projects for the community and the Church.  Scouting is a life time adventure to always be remembered.  Adults can also enjoy and take part in the Scouting Program. Boy Scouts meet Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. and Cub Scouts meet Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the Scout Hut.

CARNIVAL

Sacred Heart’s Spring Carnival, usually held during the spring, is our main Parish and School fundraiser and is sponsored by the Council of Catholic Women. This event is a 3-day fun-filled extravaganza, running from Friday until Sunday. There are carnival rides, games, a silent auction, a tea room, great food, live entertainment, and much more. Your help is needed for this huge event.

COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN

The Council of Catholic Women (CCW) is open to all women affiliated with the parish and school. Our objective is the promotion of the good of the parish community in all phases of its life: spiritual, moral, educational, and social. Some of our projects include the annual Parish Carnival, Religious Gift Shop, Thrift Store, etc.Diocesan projects include Camp “I am Special”, Anniversary Mass, Hugs for the Homeless, etc. We invite you to join us for our monthly meetings held on the third Tuesday of the Month (September – May) in the Family Life Center at 7:00 p.m.

FILIPINO MINISTRY

We are Americans with Filipino Ancestry whose mission is to keep the Catholic faith and our cultural values handed down through generations alive, and to integrate them into present day religious practices and celebrations. We aim to provide a core group of individuals who assist our pastor in his endeavor to cultivate and enrich the faith of the Filipinos in our parish. Furthermore, we aim to make the Filipino community active in sharing their valuable time, talent, and resources for the advancement of our generation.

FUNERAL RECEPTION MINISTRY

When called upon, our ministry provides a luncheon after the funeral mass of a parishioner or a parishioner’s loved one. You will be contacted by the coordinator and asked to provide a casserole or dessert for the luncheon and if you have time, assist in hosting, or cleaning up after the luncheon. You may only be contacted once every three months or so.

GARDENING MINISTRY

The gardens of our parish provides interested parishioners a solemn and welcoming place to pray and connect with God. Parishioners of all ages take time to admire the beauty of the garden and often take small tokens of memories with pictures. As good stewards of our parish and of God’s creation, gardening ministry provides an opportunity for us to contemplate the beauty of the earth or just enjoy a common hobby as we work with our hands outdoors in the fresh air. We welcome any parishioners to help us maintain these gardens as we continue to beautify our church grounds.

GIRL SCOUTS

Girl Scouts is the largest Girl led organization. The program is open to all girls age five through eighteen and their parents. Girl Scouts gives girls the opportunity to learn about themselves and how they connect to their family, community, and church. With the help of these connections, programs and community service, Girls Scouts is developing girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Sacred Heart has Brownies, Daisies, Junior and Senior troops.

GOLDEN HEARTS

Golden Hearts is for all adults age 50 and older who would like to meet for fellowship and entertainment. Our meetings are the second Monday of the Month. Lunch is served at a cost of $3.00 per person. There is a program each month that is selected by a committee. Programs can be cards/games, a speaker ,or anything that the group chooses.It is wonderful for the seniors to reacquaint themselves with fellow parishioners or make new friends.

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP

The Grief Support Group is designed to help you deal with a recent loss by providing strategies to cope with pain that in time, can renew and permit you to move on. We meet every Thursday from 10 a.m to 12 p.m. It is not a requirement to be Catholic. If you hurt, please join us. You need not walk this path alone.

HISPANIC MINISTRY

The Hispanic Community on the Westside which is comprised of mostly traditional Catholics, offer services in Spanish. Such services are the Charismatic Prayer Group (Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m.), the devotion to the Virgin Mary, praying the Rosary (every Saturday at 6:30p.m.), Mass in Her honor (the first Saturday of May), the Rosary March (the last Saturday of October), and the Mass in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe (the second Saturday of December). Other activities include Hispanic Diocesan Events, Family Day (one Sunday in September), the “Posadas” (nine days before Christmas),the Christmas Dinner, and more. These activities help build the community and increase the faith among our Hispanic brothers and sisters.

HOSPITALITY AFTER MASS

Coffee & Donuts are served after the 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Masses most Sundays of the year. This is an opportunity to build community with each other after Mass with and is hosted by different ministries.

MEN OF SACRED HEART (MOSH)

The Men of Sacred Heart, “MOSH,” gathers to promote fellowship among the men of Sacred Heart Parish and School by organizing various events and activities while growing in our faith together. Our motto is men doing good and having fun doing it. All men, 18 years or older, that are members of our faith community, are welcome to attend our meetings held on the first Monday of each month in the Mercy Center. There is no initiation fee or dues to join.

NIGHT OF ENCOUNTER

Night of Encounter is a night to encounter Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration, praise and worship, and Confession. It is a prayerful evening with candles and the Eucharist exposed on a burning bush. Night of Encounter is open to the whole parish and occurs once a year.

PRAYER BLANKET MINISTRY

Prayer blankets are available to those individuals who are experiencing a serious illness or injury. The blankets are sponsored by the Council of Catholic Women (CCW) and are made by women of the parish. Prayer Blankets are meant to touch the lives of those receiving them and are a wonderful reminder that our community is surrounding them with constant prayers for healing.

RELIGIOUS GIFT SHOP

The Religious Gift Shop is in the gathering space of our beautiful church. We have a large selection of statues, books, Rosaries, First Communion items and special gifts at very reasonable prices. You can also find items in Spanish, as well holiday ideas. We are open before and after Masses on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. It is volunteer run and ALL PROFITS go to Sacred Heart Church.

RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY

Respect Life provides educational information and opportunities for you to be involved in respect life issues. These issues are abortion, embryonic stem cell research, assisted reproductive technology, euthanasia, and capital punishment. It is important to be well- informed when these issues arise in day-to-day conversations with family, friends, or co-workers so that as a Catholic, you can speak knowledgeably about the truth.

ROSARY MAKING MINISTRY

Come and learn how to make Rosaries. No experience is necessary. We provide Rosaries for Sacred Heart Parish and organizations throughout the world. We meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Family Life Center. Students will earn service hours.

SOCIAL MINISTRY

The Social Ministry will lead Sacred Heart Parish into new and fun-filled activities that will bring parishioners together and reach out to our non-Catholic or non-practicing Catholics in the boundaries of the parish. Utilizing the wonderful facilities available on the campus, all types of activities (movies, talent shows, arts and crafts, picnics, parties, sports) can be staged to enrich the day-to-day life of all the Sacred Heart Family.

ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY

St. Vincent de Paul is a lay organization that helps the poor and those with temporary needs. It is not a social service agency. It is a person-to-person ministry that sees the face of Christ in those who are suffering. Families, single parents, and individuals who are having problems meeting their rent or electric bill can be assessed on an individual basis to determine if we can help them. Volunteers are needed to collect food, work in the office, visit the suffering, and pray for those in need.

THRIFT SHOP

The Thrift Shop is operated under the guidance of the Council of Catholic Women (CCW). Donations are received from individuals from inside and outside of the parish. The Thrift Shop provides much needed clothing to those seeking assistance from the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Volunteers are needed to sort, price. and staff the Thrift Shop during its open hours, Wednesdays 9:00 a.m to -2:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m.
